Question 1: God, determinism, free will

One of my favorite passages early on is p. 74-78 in which henry and clare talk about free will and determinism and god. These topics come up frequently in the book as henry chooses what he tells clare about their future. E.g. he tells her how she likes her coffee and who her favorite poet is.

He asks her what universe she wants and which she believes in block, chaos, christian. What say you?

i have no clue. i would like to think that she could change her future if she wanted to... but i dont know why i would want that.

this was a v. difficult topic for me the whole book. I do not like the idea of not having control of your future and just waiting for your life to unfold the way it has already happened. I guess I am like Claire. I want to believe both, and I think both are possible. However, if I knew someone like Henry it would make me question that a lot.

we have free will...totes mcgoats!

but we may not be equally happy with all those wild decisions romping around in our heads. i say, go with the coffee the hot man from the future recommends! as for major, life decisions, maybe be a little skeptical about this so-called future husband. he could actually be a hobo trying to steal all your money!!!
