I am into book two (p 256). Gah...reading this through the holiday season has been even more...whats the word...moving? I do not know if that is the word I need but I definitely feel differently about Achak's story at this time of the year.
i agree. my family had a big discussion on "the spirit of christmas" or whatever. charity vs. tradition vs. not spending at all vs. religion vs. gredd vs. commercialism. where do you fall in? where do you think you should fall in?
doing charity around christmas time is great. but then again, shouldnt you be doing it year round? is it better to give or receive?
i think i came off as a bit of a scrooge, and it may be in part because reading this book has put a bad taste in my mouth about the state of humanity. what better time to count your blessings, i suppose...
